• Change Everything - This sat in my collection for months after I picked it up for just $5. I don't whether the price created some sort of perception that it wasn't very good, but about a month ago I dug it out and "discovered" it. The music doesn't quite have the sublime judgement of Hothouse Flowers, but the lyrics are something else again. If I could write lyrics as good as this, I would be perfectly content.

• Layla - Eric Clapton only seems to fire when he's not really trying - and here he is firing on all cylinders (and then some). A pivotal rock recording.

• Tim Finn - Mellow and intelligent pop music. With the later "Before and After", Tim sounded like he was trying to gain some popular success. This has no such ambitions and is the better for it.

For every track that slips into the easy listening groove that made "Rumours" one of the best selling albums of all time, Lindsey Buckingham offers a track that contradicts your expectations.
