She Cries

She was the centre of a tension
He felt within the room
He arrived too late
She liked to leave too soon
In the background of a photo
Was as close as he ever came
Caught in the cross fire
The harsh lights of her fame

Living with the stories
Most of them were lies
Devils in the picture
Often wear another guise
Some things can fall apart
If you think about them too much
But it's never reassuring
When she shudders at his touch

  Chorus:
  Into the darkness
  It's full steam ahead
  Moving together
  Just like she said
  They can change
  Or a new love devise
  But sometimes at night
  She cries

They might start out on the couch
And end up on the floor
But there's always some feeling
He's just knocking at her door
Sometimes he'll try to talk
To find what she's running from
She'll dismiss him with that smile
It doesn't matter anymore

  Chorus:
  Into the darkness
  It's full steam ahead
  Moving together
  Just like she said
  They can change
  Or a new love devise
  But sometimes at night
  She cries

  Bridge:
  Who is the woman here
  Sleeping in this haunted bed
  What are those troubled dreams
  Slipping through her head
Is he supposed to be the cure
Is he wrapped up with the cause
Or is he something that she's taken
  To cover up some flaws

A photo session in the lounge
The clothes strewn across her home
The mysteries of this house
Are dying way too slow
He deserves an explanation
Wouldn't they all like to know
Her trust is slowly won
Love's a flower she finds hard to grow

  Chorus:
  Into the darkness
  It's full steam ahead
  Moving together
  Just like she said
  They can change
  Or a new love devise
  But sometimes at night
  She cries
