Blind

The whole world collapsed
But that was nothing new
"I'm going home and straight to bed"
Something else she'd never do
Emptied her heart out in the foyer
It always ends the same
Now morning comes
And she's sure she knows his name

  What was she thinking
What was going through her mind
  Was it some grand plan
  That all went wrong
  Was she trying to soar
Only to end up flying blind

He walked down by the lake
Watching the silence invade
He remembered the river
Where he used to wade
And a friend who lived his life
Hard fast and loose
Some American show
Taught him how to tie a noose

  What was he thinking
What was going through his mind
  Was it some grand plan
  That all went wrong
  Was he hoping to soar
Only to end up flying blind

  Bridge:
  Sometimes I say things
  I'd love to believe in
  With the best of intentions
  I just end up deceiving
  All these bold actions
  Made to look small
  Moving at full pace
  Pretending to stall

(And) I thought careful steps
Would fall safe and fall sure
A gentle knock
Would open a door
Drawing a fine line
Straight to her heart
(but) With just one word
She could blow it all apart

  What is she thinking
What is going through her mind
  Is this my grand plan
  Slowly going wrong
I was just trying to soar
Only to end up flying blind
