Merry Xmas all!
So here we are at the end of the year. For me, today's my last working day before we have to take compulsory leave over the Xmas/New Year period. As I write this, my manager is sitting in a meeting discussing the details of my retrenchment. There's no debate about when that will be because that's already been determined. My co-worker received his notice yesterday and there's a chance I'll get my paperwork today. By the end of January, my job will disappear regardless.
Am I shocked by this? No, not really, it's been on the cards for a while. Am I appalled by the atrocious timing of it? Certainly, it's utterly disgraceful.
Oh well, shit happens. I'm going to enjoy my time off over the next couple of weeks and then when we hit 2004, I'll start the job hunting in earnest. Merry Xmas everyone.
